The data have undergone extensive processing and are free of internal inconsistencies such as erratic points and crossing segments. The shorelines are constructed entirely from hierarchically arranged closed polygons. The data can be used to simplify data searches and data selections or to study the statistical characteristics of shorelines and land masses. The individual polygons are available in 5 resolutions: full, high, intermediate, low, and crude.</note> <note type="system details">System requirements: Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software that reads ESRI shapefile format.</note> <subject authority="lcsh"> <topic>Shorelines</topic> <geographic>Earth (Planet)</geographic> </subject> <subject> <cartographics> <coordinates>W 180°--E 180°/N 90°--S 90°</coordinates> </cartographics> </subject> <originInfo> <dateCreated encoding="marc">2014</dateCreated> <place> <placeTerm authority="marccountry" type="code">vau</placeTerm> </place> </originInfo> <originInfo> <edition>2.3.3</edition> </originInfo> <location> <url usage="primary display">https://purl.stanford.edu/db745bh8486</url> </location> <location> <url displayLabel="View this collection in EarthWorks">https://earthworks.stanford.edu/?f%5Bdc_publisher_s%5D%5B%5D=United+States.+National+Geospatial-Intelligence+Agency&f%5Bdct_provenance_s%5D%5B%5D=Stanford&f%5Bsolr_year_i%5D%5B%5D=2014&q=Wessel%2C+Paul</url> </location> <recordInfo> <recordOrigin>Converted from MARCXML to MODS version 3.7 using MARC21slim2MODS3-7_SDR_v2-7.xsl (SUL 3.7 version 2.7 20220901; LC Revision 1.140 20200717)</recordOrigin> <recordCreationDate encoding="marc">140430</recordCreationDate> <recordIdentifier source="SIRSI">a11632142</recordIdentifier> </recordInfo> <accessCondition type="useAndReproduction">This program is free software: you can redistribute it and/or modify it under the terms of the GNU General Public License as published by the Free Software Foundation, either version 3 of the License, or (at your option) any later version.
